We're offering free eBooks to the entire population of the next state that legalizes same-sex marriage
Why Are We Doing This?
We hope to raise awareness of the struggles within each state to achieve equality for same sex couples wanting to marry. As you know, state and federal marriage laws provide a safety net of legal and economic protections for married couples and their children — including the ability to visit your spouse in the hospital and to transfer property, which can mean being able to remain in the family home when your spouse has passed away. Unfortunately, in most states these protections do not extend to same sex couples. This must be corrected.
How Will It Raise Awareness?
Marriage equality is the greatest love story and we're going to celebrate it with free eBooks. eBook Eros will reward citizens of the next state taking the courageous step granting marriage equality with a 78 hour free download event featuring donated works of fiction from socially conscious authors and publishers. Essentially, we'll offer free ebooks to everybody in the next state that passes a marriage equality law. Here are some specifics:
- Once the law passes, participants will be notified by email and have 72 hrs to download content from the "eBooks for Free States" catalogue.
- We anticipate the drive will enjoy a significant amount of gratis promotion once momentum has been established.
- The "Free eBooks for Free States" drive will be promoted internally on our site and blog and externally via a social media and PR campaign. There will be promotional newsletters and an "eBooks for Free States" section on our site featuring participating authors.
How Can You Help?
We're asking authors like yourself to either donate existing work or contribute new content to the drive. To preserve the integrity of the offer, the price of the donated work must be free exclusively to this program at the time of download (IE: We can't accept ebooks that are already free). This doesn't mean content must be restricted exclusively to the drive. For example, one can make an existing $8.00 ebook available to the drive and continue selling it for $8.00 throughout the promotion.
