Reader Review: This book was AMAZING. It was the first book that I read by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and I absolutly fell in love. The characters are wonderful and complement each other perfectly. Pheobe is easy to relate to despite the fact that she is drop dead gorgeous and Dan is every woman's image of a perfect man!!!!
The Windy City isn't quite ready for Phoebe Somerville -- the outrageous, curvaceous New York knockout who has just inherited the Chicago Stars football team. And Phoebe is definitely not prepared for the Stars' head coach Dan Celebow, a sexist jock taskmaster with a one-track mind. Celebow is everything Phoebe abhors. And the sexy new boss is everything Dan despises -- a meddling bimbo who doesn't know a pigskin from a pitcher's mound.
So why is he drawn to the shameless sexpot like a heat-seeking missile? And why does the coach's good ol' boy charm leave cosmopolitan Phoebe feeling awkward, tongue-tied.... and ready to fight?
The sexy, heartwarming, and hilarious "prequel" to Susan Elizabeth Phillip's This Heart of Mine -- her sensational bestsellng blockbuster -- It Had To Be You is an enchanting story of two stubborn people who believe in playing for keeps.

I loved this book, it is one of the best of the Chicago Stars series and it definetly tempts you to go on with the other books. The book tells the story of Phoebe Somerville, a woman with a bimbo's body and behaviour which hide an inner fraility, and how she succeeds in taking her personal revenge upon his father and other people who hurt her in the past.
Becoming the heiress the Chicago Stars Football Team is indeed a great upheaval in her life, but it will bring her the love of a life time.
a must read for any romantic

A entertaining read. I was pleasantly surprised how much i enjoyed reading about football. The characters were intense and passionate. a modern day love story that had me hooked for the entire 532 pages. The only critique I have is the totally romantic notion that true love concurs all including trauma of rape. Phoebe's sexual hangups as a result of her rape at 18 prevented her from having relationships until she met Dan. Their sexual chemistry is boiling, but the social worker in me couldn't believe how easy it was to just put aside her pain and give herself up to an intense relationship. I'm being picky, and it is fiction and a love story at that, but i just found that a little unrealistic.
