Reader Review: Lisa Kleypas is well known for her regency romances, but Stranger in My Arms is one of my favorites. The author keeps the readers guessing until the very end about whether or not the man claiming to be Hunter is or not. I enjoyed how you were able to follow the budding romance and character building that Lara and Hunter go through and how they eventually are able to accept that what they want is what they deserve.

With those words, Lara's life turned upside down. Hunter, Earl of Hawksworth, had been lost at sea. Or so she'd been told. Their unhappy marriage--with its cold caresses and passionless kisses--was over. But now a powerful, virile man stood before her, telling secrets only a husband could know, and vowing she would once again be his wife in every way. While Lara couldn't deny that this man with smoldering dark eyes resembled Hunter, he was attentive and loving in ways he never was before. Soon she desperately wanted to believe, with every beat of her heart, that this stranger was truly her husband. But had this rake reformed--or was Lara being seduced by a cunning stranger?

Stranger in My Arms

Chapter One

"Lady Hawksworth, your husband is not dead."

Lara stared at James Young without blinking. She knew she had not heard the estate agent correctly... or perhaps he had been drinking, though she had never known him to tipple before. It was possible that he had grown a little dotty from having to work in the service of the current Lord and Lady Hawksworth. They would surely drive anyone mad, given enough time.

"I know it is a great shock to you all," Young continued earnestly. Concern flared in his bespectacled eyes as he glanced at Lara. "To you in particular, my lady."

Had the news come from a less reliable source, Lara would have dismissed it immediately. However, James Young was a cautious and trustworthy man who had served the Hawksworth family for at least a decade. He had done an excellent job of managing her trust property's income since her husband's death, no matter that there was precious little money to oversee.

Arthur, Lord Hawksworth, and his wife, Janet, regarded Young as if they, too, doubted his sanity. They were an ideally suited couple, both of them blond, tall, and spare of frame. Although they had two sons, the boys had been packed off to Eton and were seldom seen or even mentioned. Arthur and Janet seemed to care about one thing only-to enjoy their newfound wealth and status as conspicuously as possible.

"Preposterous!" Arthur exploded. "How dare you come to me with this nonsense! Explain yourself at once."

"Very well, my lord," Young replied. "I received word yesterday that a frigate recently arrived in London carrying a most unusual passenger. It seems that he bears an uncanny resemblance to the late earl." He glanced respectful

Another great Lisa Kleypas novel. This one was slightly different from her other novels because there was a hint of mystery intertwined throughout the story. It kept you guessing and always wondering as to the true identity of the male hero. It was wonderful, the characters were bright and vibrant. The entire story was captivating. Highly Recommended.

I loved this novel, and am so glad I bought it. After having read some of the more negative reviews, I was hoping that it would be at least a good read. It was more than that to me. It was a novel of hope, love and trust. I had no problem with how Hunter reappeared in Lara's life because unbelievable things happen in real life all the time. In the timeline of this novel, it was very possible that things like this happened. I really liked Hunter and could appreciate why he felt the way he did. Life certainly wasn't fair then. I enjoyed the way Lara grew from a rather pale, insignificant personality into a strong woman who decided to take life by the horns and and make choices to better her life and everyone else's. She had to choose between what she thought was morally right the right thing to do, or to choose to do what she knew was legally was wrong. Her choice was made and it couldn't have been easy given her moral code. I also appreciated the fact that Rachel had a future...something that was not likely in that time. I highly recommend this novel to fans of Lisa Kleypas and anyone else who loves to read a good book.

An ok read, nothing too special but perfect if all one wants to do is wile away a rainy afternoon. Witty dialogue but perhaps the storyline is a touch too farfetched
