Reader Review: As soon as I finished reading this novel, I went looking for more by Joanna Bourne. Unfortunately for fans like me, Ms B regrets (on her web-site) that She cannot write any faster. As with that of Judith Ivory and say Carolyn Jewel's, Ms Bourne's prose is sumptuously smooth. Such skill, expertise and timely restraint with words, I reckon, grabbed this reader's interest and maintained that - from the first encounter between Jess and Sebastian. If You want to read of admirable, genuinely-unique heroines and their equally-formidable heroes in stories peopled with more-than-one-dimensional secondary characters, Ms Bourne's books are for you.
She's never met a man she couldn't deceive...until now.
She's braved battlefields. She's stolen dispatches from under the noses of heads of state. She's played the worldly courtesan, the naive virgin, the refined British lady, even a Gypsy boy. But Annique Villiers, the elusive spy known as the Fox Cub, has finally met the one man she can't outwit.

| Note | ePub, short for electronic publication is one of our favorites and should be yours for a couple of reasons. ePub offers reflowable text giving you flexibility to manipulate how the digital content is presented. Moreover, lots of cool features are now being developed for the reader like advanced video and audio. ePub is now an industry standard, so all of the device manufacturers are now supporting it?. except of course those two proprietary (ie: we don't want you to have a choice) online behemoths: Apple and Amazon - who seek to chain you like a trailer park dog forever to their devices. Three years from now, we predict ePub will rule the eBook landscape. |

This has to be one of the best historical romances I have read in a long time. With the blend of intrigue, romance and fantastic characters this author has created a tale that I will read again and again.
Likewise to the other reviewers, that this has to be one of the best historical romances written by far!!!

This was an unusual story compared to other historical romance novels; Joanna Bourne made sure her plots weren't cheesy and the characters wouldn't get on your nerves too often. The love scenes were quite steamy as well. I look forward to more of JB's works.
V enjoyable read - looking forward to more

I was looking for a good historical and based upon previous reviews, i purchased this. I really enjoyed it and have subsequently read Joanne Bourne's other book, which I would also recommend.
