Reader Review: I’m a bit torn in two directions in regards to Kiss the Dead. I do think that LHK is starting to get back on track and is bringing back the Anita we all love from the beginning of the series; before it turning pretty much into all sex all the time type of series. The main story line of this book was very interesting, and I do see that some of the sex needed to happen (like between her and Nicky) to further the story and add new information about the arduer and being a “Bride.” But I really don’t see the need to have such in depth play by play writing on all the other times Anita hooked up with her sweeties. It got to the point where I was skimming through those parts in search of the next scene where she was needed for something life threatening. In addition to that there are now even more little story lines going on (like with Arnet’s jealously/ire/and possible insanity?) and there are still ones going on from a few books back that have gotten very tiring to read about (such as Anita’s issues about having sex with Cynric…which looks like it will continue for yet another book). Makes you want to shake Anita and tell her to get over it already and make up your mind! I really enjoyed Hit List and thought things with Anita were getting back to normal. But now I wonder if every book from here on out is going to focus more about the sex versus the actual problem at hand in Anita’s work life. Anyway despite my annoyance with some of this book I will still undoubtedly be purchasing the next one in this series because I just can’t seem to give up on Anita and the hopes that things will get better for the series.

When a fifteen-year-old girl is abducted by vampires, it’s up to U.S. Marshal Anita Blake to find her. And when she does, she’s faced with something she’s never seen before: a terrifyingly ordinary group of people—kids, grandparents, soccer moms—all recently turned and willing to die to avoid serving a master. And where there’s one martyr, there will be more…

But even vampires have monsters that they’re afraid of. And Anita is one of them…

NoteePub, short for electronic publication is one of our favorites and should be yours for a couple of reasons. ePub offers reflowable text giving you flexibility to manipulate how the digital content is presented. Moreover, lots of cool features are now being developed for the reader like advanced video and audio. ePub is now an industry standard, so all of the device manufacturers are now supporting it?. except of course those two proprietary (ie: we don't want you to have a choice) online behemoths: Apple and Amazon - who seek to chain you like a trailer park dog forever to their devices. Three years from now, we predict ePub will rule the eBook landscape.

Not your usual Anita Blake story.

I've been a fan of Laurell Hamilton from the beginning and am always excited when a new title comes out. But between Beauty, which was a short story that was nothing more than a sex scene and now this title, I have to say I'm a little disappointed. The first books in this series were nail biters, hard to put down and full of action right the way through. Now between the constant emotional epiphanies Anita keeps having at random times and the constant explaining and often repeating of the back story, there's not a lot of time for the really intense plot lines we're used to seeing. Halfway through the book and you realize that more time has been spent on personal back story and relationships, that you can almost forget that there is more to the story.
Don't get me wrong, this author is still incredibly talented and has amazing depth with her characters, but I can't help but wish for a little less emotional baggage and a little more of the metaphysical action that we fell in love with with this series.

I really enjoyed this book. Loved seeing Micah, Nathaniel, JC, Nicky, Sin and Asher again (along with the rest of the crew) and was so happy about Dolph as well. I was also pleased at the growth I saw in Anita. The police plot was excellent and I am left wondering about so many things in that area. Can't wait for the next book!
