Reader Review: Marnie goes to her Grandmother’s old cabin in the Sierra mountains for a weekend to reflect upon her life and set a more daring course. She didn’t bargain for getting caught up in Jake Dolan’s world of terrorist intrigue but that’s what happened. He’s trying to deal with assassins and get Marnie home safely. I really enjoyed Jake and Marnie and their romance was off the charts steamy! They couldn’t be more different but at the same time perfectly suited for each other. She’s funny and he’s sardonic so the dialogue was a pleasure to follow. My problem with the book is it didn’t seem to integrate the two aspects of the story very well. The romance seemed to be happening independently of the ops segment, which was rather protracted. The romantic tension was perfect but the intrigue related to the terrorists/assassins flagged. While I enjoyed the story, it was just okay. Even so, I’m glad I read it and will continue the series for now.
She was looking for adventure.
Marnie Wright has seen more than her fair share of testosterone. Growing up with four overly protective brothers was one thing. Now a mountain man named Jake Dolan has invaded a peaceful day of soul-searching at her grandmother's secluded cabin. Sure, she was trespassing on his private property, but did he have to pull a gun on her? There's more to this longhaired soldier of fortune who calls himself the Tin Man, but she's not sure she wants to stick around to find out what. Then he stashes her in his secret lair--an underground techno-fantasy complete with security monitors and an arsenal--and Marnie realizes the guy is military, top secret military. He's also got the most beautiful mouth she's ever seen.
He could get her killed.

Three years from now, we predict ePub will rule the eBook landscape. |
Kiss and Tell
Chapter One
The perimeter alarms were set to go off when anything heavier than a
hundred pounds crossed the almost invisible breakers. At first all Jake
saw on the monitor was the fawn-colored Great Dane. The damn thing was a
mean-looking bastard and as big as a house.
"Where the hell did you come from?"
The dog's large, square head and pointy ears swiveled, as if it could
smell him down here, twenty feet below ground level. Jake stuck his size
fourteens up on the counter and took another swig of soda. His eyes
narrowed as he scrutinized the flat-screen monitor before him.
A second later his feet dropped to the floor at the same time his fist
crushed the empty can. "Shit."
The dog had been hiding her.
For a split second . . .
Jake absently touched the scar on his throat and ignored the from
zero-to-eighty acceleration of his blood pressure. He leaned forward to
adjust the focus and shifted closer to get a better look.
A slender blonde, drowning in a green down jacket, sat not thirty feet
from the front door of his cabin on the tree uprooted by last year's
storm. Fair hair, all the colors of the sun and fingered by the breeze,
danced in joyous spiral curls around her face and hunched shoulders as she
concentrated on something in her lap.
Her skin was fair instead of dusky, her hair silky, not coarse, the angle
of her head unfamiliar. She was no ghost from the past. Thank God.
Nevertheless, he didn't want her here.
Jake didn't know who she was or what she was doing in the high, remote
Sierras at the nose of winter. Her mere presence was suspect. Not that she

In my opinion, this is the real start of the T-flac series. Jake is a tough nut to crack, but Marnie weasles her way into his life and his heart. She is just what he needs. She and her dog drive Jake crazy which I found very amusing. Their relationship is rather amusing, but Jake fights it as best he can. Until Marnie is seriously hurt and Jake is forced to face his feelings for her. I really enjoy this book, and I'm sure you will too. A very enjoyable read.

Jake is an agent with an anti-terrorist group. He is hiding out in his mountain retreat licking his wounds from being set up as a traitor. Marnie has headed up the same mountain to the old homestead where her grandmother lived as a young woman to mourn her grandmother's passing. The assassins are headed up the mountain after Jake. What is a down and out hero to do but rescue the damsel in distress? And, if he is really lucky, she will rescue him right back.

This is probably my favorite book by Cherry Adair.

This is probably my favorite book by Cherry Adair. It is the first one I read and as a result, I've read everything she's written. The plot is pretty familiar: nice girl meets military stud. But the characters are well developed and likeable. There is just enough of everything that makes a good suspenseful romance, humor, intrigue, hot sex! I highly recommend this book and author.
