Before E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey and Sylvia Day's Bared to You , there was Anne Rice’s New York Times best seller The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty

In the traditional folktale of "Sleeping Beauty," the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. In the first book of the trilogy, Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquelaure, retells the Beauty story and probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire. Here the Prince awakens Beauty, not with a kiss, but with sexual initiation. His reward for ending the hundred years of enchantment is Beauty's complete and total enslavement to him . . . as Anne Rice explores the world of erotic yearning and fantasy in a classic that becomes, with her skillful pen, a compelling experience. Readers of Fifty Shades of Grey will indulge in Rice’s deft storytelling and imaginative eroticism, a sure-to-be classic for years to come.

Praise for The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty :

"Articulate, baroque, and fashionably pornographic." —Playboy

"Something very special . . . at once so light and yet so haunting." —The Advocate

NoteePub, short for electronic publication is one of our favorites and should be yours for a couple of reasons. ePub offers reflowable text giving you flexibility to manipulate how the digital content is presented. Moreover, lots of cool features are now being developed for the reader like advanced video and audio. ePub is now an industry standard, so all of the device manufacturers are now supporting it?. except of course those two proprietary (ie: we don't want you to have a choice) online behemoths: Apple and Amazon - who seek to chain you like a trailer park dog forever to their devices. Three years from now, we predict ePub will rule the eBook landscape.

Dissapointing

Reviewer:

I was truly looking forward to getting to know who Beauty was as an adult and how the story might look from the "adult" prespective. I was dissapointed! Beauty's caracature had no depth or personality and may as well have been a blow up doll. Simply there were alot of poorly written sex scenes and very little story line.

Not really worth reading.

This story is not like Rice's vampire series. In fact the story was rather dull and probably could have been shortened greatly. I couldn't connect with the characters, couldn't generate empathy and thoroughly disappointed by an idea that had so much promise and an awesome concept. Not really worth reading.

aweful

Reviewer:

I bought this book because of its being compared to 50 shades. There is no comparison. This book was about degrading and punishing and embarrassing. Women were made to crawl on all fours, kiss shoes and the punishment was so far from sexy. They spanked them until they blistered. It had nothing to do with love or any type of relationship. I'm no prude, I like a little steam in my books and I really liked 50 shades and Bared to you. This was nothing like those. I cringed through out the book and barely finished it. I had already bought book 2 before I started this one. I won't be reading it.
