Reader Review: Mrs. Dohner made a wonderful serie but in her last book (Brawn) she lost some of her magic and the serie's magic too. In this book she seems to be "back on the saddle". This one is more tender and funny, although Lauren's friend is a little "too much"... Wrath has to fight with a lot of inner ghosts so that he can be with Lauren and live this love that they feel growing up between them. The sex scenes are sizzling, as usual in a Dohner's book. And the story is a little fast with a lot of things happening at the same time, but it's very interesting. Good Reading! Next book in the serie: Tiger
Book 6 in the New Species series. Wrath volunteers to live and work outside Homeland, where he'll once again be confined in a small space with other males. He was subjected to horrific abuse and conditioning and forced to view endless sex tapes of human females while chained to Mercile's perverted machines. Wrath knows he's too dangerous and emotionally damaged to ever be with a female. Lauren has just been detained by three big, buff, well-armed men-New Species. One of them really catches her eye. He's tall, sexy and...her new roommate, apparently. Having never met a man this spectacular, she decides to taste every inch of his amazing body. Wrath is definitely open to that plan. The sex is incredible and he gives her everything she needs-but he'll only go so far. Something is holding him back. Lauren has to make him unleash his desire and Wrath has to get past his fear if the couple wants any chance at a future together. Publisher's Note: While each New Species book is a standalone, the greatest enjoyment will come from reading them in series order.

Wrath’s heart raced and he needed to put space between himself and Lauren. Adrenaline from the battle surged through his body until his skin itched. The urge to run, to howl, or to keep fighting had him on edge. He could have killed Vengeance, nearly had, but he’d regained control in time to prevent it. That should have counted, calmed him some, but he didn’t trust himself to be near her.
His rage over Lauren being attacked in his room by a male who was intent on taking her body and claiming her had boiled over into violence. The scent of her fear had flipped a switch inside him, one that had sent him into pure bloodlust.
Vengeance’s blood and his own coated his skin as he entered the bathroom but the violence and rage of battle quickly turned to desire and the need to claim Lauren before another male could attempt to take her away from him again. His dick swelled with blood at just the thought of returning to his bedroom and stripping her bare. His hands clenched as he breathed through his mouth to lessen the stench of blood. The primal side of him wanted her so bad it hurt. His body trembled from the need to go after her.
Brutal images filtered through his thoughts and it cooled his heated blood enough to keep control. He would hurt her in the state he was in. He’d take her roughly, without consideration, just to satisfy the need to make her his. He’d be worse than Vengeance if he did it. Wrath knew it was wrong to force a female to bec...

All of these books are a great read and I've enjoyed them all. This one was a little different as it's not set mostly in New Species Homeland or Reservation and I enjoyed the change in setting. All of these books are well worth reading. Any fan of Lora Leigh's "Breed" books will particularly like these. They are different enough to be interesting and yet the basic idea is the same. I think it's comparable to two great vampire series, not a rip-off of Lora Leigh, just the same kind of human/animal hybrid characters.
AWESOME read!
