Two legged men just didn't arouse her. There was nothing she could do about it; it's just the way she is. She was born that way.
If Violet could have changed her nature, she would have, for the sake of her own happiness. It made life difficult for her. And very lonely.
But there was one guilty little pleasure that Violet allowed herself. Nobody would ever know, nobody would ever even suspect her real motive behind her monthly trip to the wolf sanctuary out of town.
Once a month she would dress up nice, make up her face, make herself feel beautiful, and head out to the Howlin Hectares Wolf Sanctuary with her digital video camera and shoot footage of the wolves in captivity.
She sighed, then smiled at the beasts, hoping that they could feel her compassion for them.
Watching them behind bars, cooped up, pacing up and down with eyes full of rage, made her sad.
They should be wild and free, not locked up behind chain link fences where they can't run or hunt and do the other things that are in their nature to do.
Violet grinned as she began to shoot footage of the wolves; nobody would ever suspect what she did with the videos after she got home.
She loved her little ritual – same thing every time. It was the one day she was happy each month and felt some sort of satisfaction amid her lonely, solitary existence.
