Truthfully, she had begun to tire of him. His pleading neediness had begun to drive her up the walls. When he mentioned he thought he should call his mother she knew she had had enough.
So, she took her suitcase, leaving him with the car. She didn’t need him. She didn’t need anyone. Look at me, Megan thought to herself. Who wouldn’t want to help me out?
Such a statement was not without merit. Growing up, Megan wasn’t the most popular girl in her town – that was an honor reserved for only the blondest and most insipid. Her sense of style served double duty – her clothing both accentuating her looks and providing respite in the heat.
